Getting a community back up again
I'm an oldskool dwfer I been here since the beginning in 2002 wow has it been 16 years? the high water mark was probably 2003-2008 crazy times,
2006 probably sticks in my mind the most because I met someone online from dwf and even moved in with her and it lasted about 6 months, then i met a SECOND girl and lived with her several years so the forum has had a major affect on my life.
I had a lot of what I considered friends and I'm glad to see the mass mailing firstname.lastname@example.org sent out to all former members worked and many have come back.
But the technical problems causing the forum to be up for a few weeks then down for 3 months (last time) I think really hurts getting a community going again, plus things have changed so much, the forum trend is somewhat out of date with social media now, almost like yahoo groups or something, I dont know if young people get into it. I know a lot of people were almost addicted, posting dozens, 100 times a day.
I hope the technical problems can be worked out and we start to get some threads really going good and developing into interesting conversations.
I hope we can get some new blood.
I hope more old people come back.
really, kudos to doc getting all this back up, have you seen the site, it's like 10k pages. We're going to win 🙂
